Downing College has everything you need for a comfortable and memorable stay in historic Cambridge. We’ll look after your guests, long after the final speech or song of the night. Inviting them to discover the best of Cambridge, in all its historic glory, guests will stay just a stone’s throw from the river Cam, local shops, and the city’s must-see museums, in a truly one-of-a-kind setting. Dating back to the early 1800s, it’s the type of environment that’s bursting with things to see, do, and experience. Take a stroll around our 20 acres of lawns and trees and explore the college’s incredible architecture, with your camera at the ready.

We believe that the best trips start with having an even better place to rest your head, the kind of space where you’re never left scrambling for some last-minute tea bags. Welcoming in both conference guests and individuals, couples, and families alike, there are no restrictions on length of stay. If it’s available, we’d love to have you.

Our Superior Ensuite Bedrooms offer:

Daily servicing, to help you switch off.
Complimentary WiFi, for those still in work mode.
A flat-screen TV, for when you finally put your feet up.
Some much-needed tea and coffee-making facilities.
Modern ensuites, complete with towels and toiletries

We’re looking forward to welcoming you in. But before we do, there are a few pointers to keep in mind. Check-in is available from 2pm, and rooms must be vacated by 10am on the day of your departure. Don’t worry – if you’re planning some last-minute sightseeing, we’d be happy to look after your luggage at the Porter's Lodge upon request. You’ll enter the college through the main entrance on Regent Street. Should the pedestrian gate be closed – this is often the case after 11pm – our friendly staff will be happy to unlock it for you. Just ring the Porters’ Lodge bell, no matter what time it is, and they’ll handle the rest.

Please note: As much as we love to meet guests from all walks of life, we’re unable to accept bookings from stag and hen parties, or those under the age of 18, unless accompanied by an adult aged 21+. Sadly, Downing College does not offer twin bedrooms.
